“El Póker en vivo sufre con leyes de hace 60 años”

Entrevista con Florentino Coalla, vicepresidente de la Confederación Panamericana de Poker Deportivo.

Florentino Coalla tiene 48 años, vive en Cancún y es Licenciado en Administración con una Maestría en Negocios Internacionales. Juega Póker desde el 2004. “Comencé viéndolo en Las Vegas en el famoso hotel SAHARA”, explica. Su mejor logro fue un 10º lugar del evento usd$2500 de la WSOP 2017, cobrando 47K.

¿Cómo se vive el Póker en México?

Hay una comunidad muy grande. Los casinos ofrecen alternativas en vivo y existen alrededor de 100 salas en todo el país. Lamentablemente tenemos una ley de juegos y sorteos obsoleta (de 1950), pero en 2017 la CONADE otorgó el RUD (registro único del deporte) a nuestra Asociación Deportiva Nacional de Póker (ADNP), lo que significó el reconocimiento del Póker como un deporte mental, pero para la Secretaria de Gobernación no ha sido suficiente.

¿Y en qué están actualmente?

La ADNP está en la batalla legal para que la SEGOB lo reconozca y se pueda practicar este deporte en mejores condiciones que dentro de un casino, con clubes específicos. Es un derecho constitucional de todos los mexicanos y se está librando una batalla jurídica para que esto suceda. Esperamos tener más y mejores paradas internacionales, así como ligas estatales y nacionales.

Además llegó la WSOP a México…

Un grupo de casinos trajo el circuito de la WSOP, que realmente fue todo un éxito. Se rompieron récords de entradas y fue un festival maravilloso. Se llevó a cabo en un centro de convenciones bajo la tutela de la ley general de juegos y sorteos.

¿Cómo nace la Confederación Panamericana de Póker?

La CPPD nace con la intención de agrupar a los países en América y tener una institución que ayude al crecimiento de este hermoso deporte en todos los sentidos. La creación formal fue el pasado 30 de noviembre en Sao Paulo y los países fundadores son Chile, Brasil, México, Argentina y Colombia.

¿Cuáles son tus responsabilidades como Vicepresidente?

Me siento muy orgulloso de serlo. Mi función principal es seguir promoviendo el Póker como deporte mental en América y entablar relaciones con otros países que tengan el interés de sumarse a una institución que recién está naciendo y que es liderada por Brasil. De hecho, nuestro actual presidente, Igor Trafane, ha logrado que el Póker en su país sea un referente mundial y esperamos que el resto podamos tener una organización deportiva como ellos.

¿Qué se viene para el 2020?

Soñamos tener el primer circuito Panamericano, con paradas en cada uno de los países fundadores y una gran final en Brasil. También queremos incluir una competencia por equipos y crear las bases para que gobiernos y marcas confíen que los eventos con el aval de la CPPD serán eventos de clase mundial.

¿Qué rol juega el club H2?

Es una organización extraordinaria, con salas en vivo y con una liga online de más de 40.000 deportistas. Es un referente en el mundo, pero no juega ningún rol en la CPPD.

¿Cómo ves el Póker chileno?

Existen grandes jugadores que han tenido logros espectaculares y que llevan varios años en los circuitos internacionales, pero la ley no ha permitido que avance, crezca y se consolide. Es por eso que la CPPD trabajará de cerca con las federaciones nacionales para apoyarlas jurídicamente.

¿Algo que quieras agregar?

Estamos en la era de la globalización y el Póker en vivo sigue sufriendo con leyes de hace más de 60 años. Estoy seguro que si los gobiernos conocieran a fondo este deporte Mental, cómo funciona, la cantidad de empleos que pueden desarrollarse y la mejora económica que deja un torneo para la ciudad donde se lleva acabo, sería todo distinto. Masificar este deporte solo traerá beneficios.
